this website, as well as youtube, and eventually reddit, were all key in me finally accepting the “truth” being not that at all.

i know that some are upset because of the time lost because of ever having been a witness.
have you moved on as an ex jw or are you stil devastated because of your past jw lige?.
Being a born-in I can't say my life was ruined but studded. Out of the rubble of the cult both my wife and I have survived. Out life is getting better and better. The cult still comes out of me rarely now. Still have no contact with our kids and grandchildren. We are working hard at making a satisfying new life by making new friends and being involved in the community. So not ruined just delayed.
I do think of those whose life was ruined. I know of two who committed suicide over guilty conscience. Thousands who experienced sexual abuse and struggle with their emotional turmoil daily, those who died due to no blood policy and organ transplant restrictions. Those are the one's who life's was ruined.
Happy are those who survived the cult for the truth has set us free. Still Totally ADD
i live in a very rural part of the northeastern united states.
after 9 years of waiting, the local witnesses are getting their new kingdom hall.
it is being built on a back road next to a sandpit.
I like to have a chicken sandwich please. Sorry we don't have chicken sandwiches. Why? Because chickens are used in voodoo worship. So we can't have chicken.

i have friends who are called "worldly people" by jws.
these people are actively involved in feeding the homeless over christmas.
managing thrift shops so they can send financial aid overseas to poorer children.

I remember in 2010 still in the Borg I had knee surgery. Two cards hoping I get well soon looking forward to see me back at the meetings and field service. Now out of the Borg this last September I had my back surgery. My new so called worldly friends I got help by them driving me back and forth from Jamestown to Buffalo to see my doctors, vase of flowers when I came home, cards of hope I will be well soon and how can we help you, brought food, books to read and one person took my wife out and bought us our grocery for that week. I was going overwhelm by their love and concern.
My atheist friends showed more "Good Works" than those n the Borg ever did. It taught me a valuable lesson on how I should be. Still Totally ADD

Sorry others have not responded but maybe by me bumping you up others could give you a good response. My thoughts are the Wt. Is covering up sexual abuses in New Zealand like they do everywhere else in the world. But there could be a exception. Still Totally ADD

Thank you Moster for those words of warning. She has left our congregation not to come back so I hear. The funny thing is she said she will never talk to me or my wife again. In other words she is shunning us because according to her I don't like Christian's. Which is not true. So you are right by her actions and thinking she is unstable and we plan on avoiding her. steve2 you have no idea how much I controlled myself. I was raised in a household were attack and annihilate was the norm. Then they would say "will it's the truth". It's hard habit to kick but leaving the borg has really helped. Thank you for your kind comments. Still Totally ADD

1010 I appreciate the encouragement. Her anger really surprise me because just minutes earlier we was talking and laughing with each other. I think she thought by attacking me this way I would fight back instead I apologize. All she could do was get even more angery.
JayK how right you are. The abusers keep going on and the abuse are left in shambles.
Confusedalot so sorry you had to go through so much hurt. You to stay strong and keep finding the strength you need so you can have peace in your life. Let's all make the scar's of our pass abuse's a point we can look back that makes us stronger. Thank you for your experience.

Steve2 thank you also. No it was not a JWs group. I belong to a Unitarian Universalist congregation. I enjoy the friendships I have with this group. Most there come out of other religions that they did not agree with. Most do not believe in God or have a belief in God or something spiritual but does not like organize religion. I fit in like a glove. They have given us a lot of support in coming out of a cult. No crosses, any religious emblems or praying. Every UU congregation is different some very Christian all the way to atheist and everything in between. Still Totally ADD
